A Love Note for the Tired + Overwhelmed
If you feel like this moment is taking more than it’s giving you.
If you feel like you can only give slivers of yourself to all that life is asking.
Remember, even the moon is only full once a month. And at a sliver of its full self, it can still light up the dark night sky.
If you question the usefulness of raising your voice, standing for what matters, making good trouble.
If you are tempted to give up, give in, give yourself over to despair.
Remember, that you are among the ranks of our country’s better angels. And no good deed in that long work is ever wasted.
If you beat yourself up for being weary when so many others have it so much harder.
Remember the world can beat us up plenty hard enough. We need not pile on. Let us be gentle with ourselves, and those we walk alongside.
If you worry that we won’t find our way out of this. And if that worry has depressed your belief in a future worthy of inheritance.
Remember that worry is love looking for an outlet. And ours is a world underfed on love.
When the history of this time is written, our redemption will be found not in the big names, but in the big souls. Those who, though worn and weary, refused to let despair have the last word.
Which is to say, those like you.
Keep the faith. Keep the loving fight.
